Scholarship Opportunities

  • Theatre Scholarship Flyer (105 kb)

Troy University has an outstanding program for scholarship. Incoming students should review the guidelines in the Bulletin for information regarding the awards for Scholarship and Leadership as well as those connected with the Troy University Foundation.

The Department considers that it is fortunate to offer students significant opportunities for scholarship awards. Awards are based upon merit, talent, and potential significant contribution to the program. Financial need is not a consideration. Students may wish to seek other avenues of assistance by applying for financial aid and loans through the University's Financial Aid Office located in the Adams Administration Building.

The scholarship process is a competitive one. Students may audition/interview during the College of Communication and Fine Arts Unified Auditions. Current award holders who plan to return the following year and are still eligible to receive a scholarship will be expected to re-audition/interview. A special day will be set up for this purpose.

All students who receive awards must maintain a 2.7 GPA, provide a service to the department, and follow the guidelines outlined in the Scholarship Contract.

Following are a list of currently available departmental scholarships:

    • Wallace Performing Arts Scholarships
    • Marion Rhodes Speech and Theatre Scholarships
    • Ken Seal Memorial Scholarship (for graduates pursuing further study)
    • Susan Gittenstein Assadi Scholarship (for theatrical direction)

Scholarships are awarded on a yearly basis. Recipients must fulfill contract expectations and re-audition/interview to be considered for renewal.

Note, Workship and Workstudy:The Department has a University Workship assignment that is placed yearly in a production area within the program. Students may apply for this position at the end of the year for the following year. The Director of Theatre and Department faculty determine which production area will receive the Workship. Students who are on the Workstudy Program are asked to identify themselves so that their workstudy assignments could possibly be placed within the Department.
