Saturday, February 23 @ Long Hall Dance Studio - 10:00am
Selected by audition either on campus or in a screening in your area, this highly selective program and ensembles train and perform in all genres and styles.
Musical Theatre & Tap
The Dance Audition will include 45-60 minutes of ballet; 30-40 minutes of jazz; and 30-40 minutes of modern/contemporary.
90 seconds to 2 ½ minutes. Unless you are a very strong ballet dancer, you may be asked to perform a solo which allows you to showcase the style with which you are most comfortable.
Prepare two contrasting monologues; total of 2 minutes.
In addition to the two contrasting monologues above, add a ballad and an up-tempo song (preferably from musical theatre). Prepare 16 measures for each. Bring sheet music taped in a file folder in appropriate key and tempo and clearly identify beginning and end points. An accompanist will be provided.
Bring your portfolio materials; prepare a 5 minute presentation to introduce your work and interests.
Please prepare to audition and/or interview in performance, design, technology, or management. Additional questions or conversations about your Theatre Education interests will be included as well.
Auditionees are encouraged to showcase in all areas that apply to them. Strong vocalists are encouraged to audition in the Long School of Music for performance ensembles and additional scholarship awards. Contact email@example.com for more information.
TROY offers other excellent scholarships, many of which may be combined with Departmental scholarships from Theatre and Dance – you are encouraged to apply for these University awards through the Office of Admissions.
